More Than Just a Game: Football v Apartheid

Read by Kwame Kwei-Armagh, this is a little known story about a group of political prisoners who defied the odds to play organised football in one of the ugliest prisons on earth: the infamous Robben Island. After years of tireless campaigning, they formed the Makana Football Association, playing for nearly twenty years with strict adherence to FIFA rules. Many of them have since become leaders in the new South Africa.
