Danielle’s Day was written, directed and produced by Mel Harris of Sparklab Productions. It’s a story about a doctor on her way to London to pitch for major research funding that will change her life and the lives of others. She’s been working on this project for 18 months with co-designer Mina. But the day doesn’t start well. Mina is unable to come with her, Bella’s daughter is threatening to miss school, her ageing mother needs to attend hospital appointments and the train is running late. An unusual project initiated by Bella Starling, Wellcome Trust Engagement Fellow and Director of Public Programmes, Manchester University NHS Trust, the drama explores the issues surrounding the sharing of patient data. For Bella’s project to succeed she needs to find ways of standardising data sets so research in her field can be shared. The drama will be made available from various websites and shared with patient groups.
