The Ladies Room: BBC Radio 3 at the Edinburgh Festival

For Sparklab’s second year at Summerhall in the pop-up Radio 3 drama studio, we’re excited to feature writer Gemma Bedeau who is also a costume designer – she styles Mobo/Jazz FM’s award-winning artist Zara McFarlane - and a graphic novelist! She was recently one of three writers involved in Airplay: a co-production with Leeds Playhouse, Leeds School of Music and BBC Radio Leeds. Gemma loves comedy, comics and high-energy stories. In The Ladies Room, her first commission for BBC Radio 3, she wonders how do you stay friends when people change? She invites us to join Amy, Becca and Keisha on a girls’ night out, in the Ladies room of a favourite nightclub. On this particular evening, three lifelong friends can no longer avoid dealing with the past. The show was recorded in front of a live audience on Tuesday 6 August 2019.
